People who are public officials can authenticate themselves and sign digital documents, with a Digital Mobile Key (CMD) or Portuguese Citizen Card, in the capacity and power of the functions they perform as professional officials in the public administration.

The association of attributes of public officials is done via the Professional Attribute Certification System (SCAP).
