Some Social Security services can be accessed online via Social Security Direct (SSD), from computer, mobile phone or tablet.
Here, on the gov.pt portal, you'll find information on various Social Security services, which can be done online or not, and what you'll need to do it.

Use the Digital Mobile Key for various online services
To use public services online, we recommend that you have a Digital Mobile Key (CMD). With the CMD, you can sign in securely to various public and private websites (banks, insurance companies, hospitals, etc.) using your mobile phone or email.

You can access Social Security Direct using one of the following means of authentication:
- the Digital Mobile Key (CMD)
- your Citizen Card
- your Social Security identification number (NISS)* and password.
*If you do not have a Social Security identification number (NISS), find out how to apply for one on this page or, alternatively, call the Social Security Line on 210 545 400 or 300 502 502. The line is open on working days from 09:00 to 18:00.
If you prefer to be dealt with in person, you can make an appointment on the SIGA appointments portal to request an NISS or for any other Social Security service, or call 210 548 888 or 300 088 888, open on working days from 09:00 to 18:00.
