Change the address and other data registered with Social Security
Portuguese or foreign people can change their address and other details, such as telephone number, cell phone number, email address and IBAN at the Social Security office. These changes can be made online, at Segurança Social Direta, or by submitting a request to change your details at the counter.
If you have a Citizen's Card, you can only change your address using the change address service on your Citizen's Card.

To change your Social Security details, you will need to sign in online or present an identification document in person.
Online on Social Security Direct
You will need to sign in using one of the following means of authentication:
- your Citizen Card;
- the Digital Mobile Key (CMD);
- your Social Security identification number and password.
In person
You will need to produce a valid identification document, such as:
- a Citizen Card
- an identity document
- a passport
- a residence permit
- a civil identification document from your country of origin (if you are a non-national).
You will need to fill in the change of details request. The application form is also available at the Social Security service desks.
Requests made by representatives
Legal representatives will need to show:
- a document identifying them as legal representative;
- a valid identification document (e.g. passport or residence permit) of the person for whom the change of details is being made.

How change the address and other data registered with Social Security?
If you have a Citizen Card, you may only change your address using the changing your address for the Citizen Card service.
Online on Social Security Direct
- Access Social Security Direct.
- In the menu at the top on the right-hand side, select ‘perfil’ [profile] and choose the ‘dados pessoais’ [personal details] option.
- Select ‘atualizar contactos’ [update contact details].
- Change the relevant contact details.
In person
Submitting a paper form
In order to change the details registered with Social Security, you will need to provide a valid identification document and fill in this change of details request. The application form is also available at the Social Security service desks.
If the change of address is being requested by the person’s legal representative, the legal representative must bring a valid identification document for the person for whom the change of address is being made.
Accessing Social Security Direct
At a Citizen Space counter it is also possible to change your address by accessing Social Security Direct. To do this, you will need to sign in using one of the following means of authentication:
- your Citizen Card
- the Digital Mobile Key (CMD)
- your Social Security identification number and password.
Depositing the form in the green box (Citizen Space)
There is no need to take a ticket:
- You can print out the request form or ask for it at the counter.
- Ask at the counter for the appropriate envelope in which to put the completed application form.
- Deposit the envelope in the green box.
