Request a school transfer
During the school year, you can request a school transfer for pre-school, primary and secondary school students in public schools run by the Ministry of Education, public schools and IPSS or similar organisations.
The request can be made on the Enrolment Portal or at the student's school office.
If you want to change schools outside of the school year, you'll have to request enrolment at the school.

When can you request a school transfer?
You can make transfer requests after 12 September.
What are the documents and requirements to request a school transfer?
To authenticate yourself on the Enrolment Portal you will need one of the following means of authentication:
- Digital Mobile Key
- Citizen's card
- Access data to the Finance Portal
You will also need to submit the following documents:
- Student's biographical record (ask for this document at the current school)
- Justification of the reason for the transfer
School transfer due to change of residence
The change of residence must be proven. If you use your Citizen's Card or Digital Mobile Key to authenticate yourself on the Enrolment Portal, the address is automatically verified.
If you use another authentication method, you can prove your address with:
- Tenancy agreement
- a document proving the purchase of the house
- water, electricity or gas bills in the name of the Parent/Guardian
- Other, as indicated by the school

What is the deadline to request a school transfer?
The time to fill in the form in the Portal das Matrículas (Enrolments Portal) is about 5 minutes. When you finish, you will receive the confirmation by email, if you authorize this communication during the completion. You will also receive notifications by email and on the Portal das Matrículas about the status of the process.
How request a school transfer?
You can request a school transfer in two ways:
- On the Enrolment Portal
- In person, at the student's current school.
On the Enrolment Portal
- Enter the Enrolment Portal and log in as a Parent/Guardian
- Select the Transfers Module application
- Fill in the online form
- Confirm the request.
At the school
- Apply at the school office.
Have your ID document and that of each student with you when you apply. You'll need to indicate the information on these documents.
Once you have made your request, all you have to do is wait to be contacted by the school to which you have requested a transfer. Contact will be made by email or telephone.
The two schools communicate with each other to finalise the process.
