About the gov.pt portal

gov.pt is the single portal for accessing all public services in Portugal. It aims to facilitate interactions between citizens and businesses and the State, providing services and information to help people improve their daily lives and solve problems.

In the vision of omnichannel service established by Decree-Law 49/2024, the gov.pt portal is the single point of entry to the internet for Public Administration service.

The portal is the responsibility of the Administrative Modernisation Agency, IP (AMA).

On gov.pt you can find

  • information on more than 2,500 public services for citizens and companies
  • access to online services that mean you don't have to go to a service centre
  • addresses and opening hours of public administration offices and points of contact
  • practical guides associated with important events in the lives of citizens and businesses.
  • State digital platforms and products for citizens and companies
  • Information for foreign citizens who want to live or work in Portugal
  • among others.

Replacing the ePortugal portal

gov.pt has replaced ePortugal as the portal that aggregates public services in Portugal.

In addition to a new image, the gov.pt portal brings improvements to the user experience, such as a new organisation of content on the pages, greater focus on the search tool and portal navigation.

gov.pt has also made a Reserved Area available to its users, which allows them to follow even more services carried out on the portal for citizens and companies. You can find more information on the new gov.pt Reserved Area presentation page

Updating content

AMA is the entity responsible for developing, managing and maintaining the gov.pt portal, liaising with the various Public Administration bodies to collect, edit and publish the content provided by them.

Legal Support

The Digitalisation of Services Strategy, enshrined in Decree-Laws 73/2014 and 74/2014 of 13 May, reinforces the importance of the ePortugal portal for citizens, entrepreneurs and the public administration in terms of access to information and the provision of electronic public services. In this context, it has been decided that all applications submitted to public services can be submitted electronically through the one-stop shop, i.e. the gov.pt portal. These laws also stipulate that information must be properly organised by the services and bodies of the Public Administration and that it must be updated frequently, so as not to disappoint the expectations of citizens and economic agents.
